Booking:
The first step is contacting me with your idea. When you do this, please include the general idea for the tattoo, preferred placement, and a rough size (in inches or cm). You can either fill out the booking form on this site, or email me directly at jonmuldoon@gmail.com.
Once we’ve figured out what you want, where, and how big, we figure out the when. Usually I work Tuesday to Saturday. Keep in mind that Saturdays book up further in advance than weekdays, so if weekdays are an option, we can get started sooner.
Rate:
The rate for custom tattoos is $180 CAD/hour (+ the government’s cut), with a minimum of one hour for custom designs. The rate for large (more than one session) geometric, ornamental, illustrative or Celtic tattoos, or any flash tattoos from my available designs, is $160/hr. Small flash designs and walk-ins that take less than two hours will be charged by the piece. The shop minimum is $100.
Deposits:
When we agree on a date and time, there is a non-refundable deposit that can be paid by etransfer. You can also use PayPal if you don’t have a Canadian bank account, or cash if you come into the shop in person. Deposits are $100 for custom or flash designs, and $200 for multi-session projects. The deposit will be deducted from the final cost (at the last session, if more than one appointment is required).
Deposits may be refunded under special circumstances. Situations where deposits will not be returned/transferred to a different date include: not showing up; rescheduling or cancelling with less than 72 hours notice; cancelling a custom tattoo when I’ve spent significant time drawing the design; significantly changing the tattoo idea or concept after the drawing is done. Basically, if we respect each other’s time, everything is cool.
Estimates:
I’m always happy to give estimates on tattoo ideas. Please keep in mind that they are estimates. Everything from the details in the design, to the size of the tattoo, to how well you sit while getting tattooed, among many other factors, can affect the final cost. The majority of the tattoos I do end up being at or lower than my estimates — I don’t like unexpected costs any more than you do. That said, I am human, and so are you, so there is always the slight possibility that a tattoo may cost a bit more than estimated.
Drawings:
Unless otherwise agreed ahead of time, I don’t send out drawings before appointments. We will have plenty of time before the tattoo begins to make any changes necessary to the design.
Walk Ins:
I love doing walk ins, whenever time allows. I usually reserve Wednesdays specifically for walk ins, but am happy to do small tattoos any day we’re open, if I’m not fully booked already. Feel free to text, call, email or message to ask about availability any time.
Sleeve cost:
I get asked this a lot, but unfortunately it’s not a cut and dry answer. Most of the sleeves I’ve done have taken anywhere from 20 to 35 hours total, depending on a whole host of factors (design style/complexity, size of the arm, length of individual sessions, ability of client to sit still, etc). Generally they’re usually around the middle of that range.
Before your tattoo:
Please, for your sake and mine, be well rested, sober, not hung over, well hydrated, and eat a good healthy meal before you arrive. Pain medication (especially prescription) won’t help, but it will likely make you bleed more, making my job more difficult, and increasing the likelihood of a patchy heal. If you don’t partake in cannabis multiple times a day already, your tattoo session is not the time to start. Feel free to bring snacks and water, keeping your blood sugar at a good level and staying hydrated go a long way to keeping you feeling good during the session.
Bringing friends:
Feel free to bring a friend, partner or family member with you. I love meeting new people! Please don’t bring a big crew, more than a couple people can be very distracting, and we both want me to be focused on giving you the best tattoo possible.
Final note:
The most important thing to know is that I *love* tattooing. I haven’t had a bad day at work since I started in 2016, and I would be more than happy to talk about your next tattoo.
